NM Foods & Brews Introduction

Hello everyone and welcome to NM Foods & Brews! The blog dedicated to New Mexico’s local cuisines and local brews. The land of enchantment is home to a diverse range of food ranging from Tex-Mex, to Italian, and to authentic New Mexico dishes. And what’s some good food without something to pair nicely with your dish and wash it down without a beer that’s brewed locally and served on tap! The food and beer industry has had a huge impact on the local community and economy and we are proud to introduce our first spot which is none other than O’Neils Pub with two locations. One is on the vibrant and eclectic street of Central and the other that we visited is in the Northeast Heights with a stunning closeup view of the Sandia Mountains.

O’Neill’s describes themselves as a “daytime, dinnertime, anytime patio restaurant, something the Irish used to call a public house” They also thrive on the importance of making it Irish with their formula: Good Food, Honest drink. Walking in, you are instantly greeted by the team and owners of the pub as well as a wall of their featured alcohol drinks of the season and their seasonal dishes as well. As you take your seat, you are in an atmosphere like no other in Albuquerque that is warm, welcoming and Irish!

Their drink menu is one that is unlike Ive ever seen before, full of Lagers, Light Beers, Seltzer’s, Local Ales, Porters, you name it! You are sure to find one that pairs nicely with one of their amazing menu items! They have a very diverse menu which is awesome and exemplifies the diversity of Albuquerque. Their menu also has vegetarian options which are super tasty as well. From Cheese curds to chips and queso to fish and chips, you are sure to find something to satisfy your cravings.

We were able to try their Cheese Curds, Fried Pickles, Buffalo Cauliflower Wings and sandwich, and Buffalo Chicken Sandwich. The Cheese curds were absolutely amazing and one of the best appetizers I’ve had. The fried pickles were also amazing and had the perfect amount of tanginess and crunch in each bite. The Buffalo cauliflower wings and the Buffalo cauliflower wings sandwich were awesome too and an amazing option for vegetarians! The chicken sandwich was also amazing and the chicken was juicy and tender. We also got a taste of some of their cocktails made with high quality ingredients that were amazing as well as an imported Vanilla Cream Ale which was just the right amount of creaminess and darkness that one looks for in an Ale. If you are stuck between a porter or an stout, don’t hesitate to ask one of the servers or bartenders who are knowledgeable and incredibly nice and understanding.

Oneils is at the top of our list of breweries to visit whenever in Albuquerque. Whether you have a craving for a Buffalo Chicken Sandwich, or are in the mood for some cheese curds, ONeils is guaranteed to satisfy that craving! Not to forget their extensive Beer and Cocktail menu that has something for everybody!

Thank you for reading our first blog post and we are excited to continue this exciting journey with you all!
